4 Simple Steps To A Stress Free Christmas

After the year we’ve had it’s time to get together for Christmas and relax as a family. Here are a few handy tips to take the work out of Christmas this year.

1. Delegate

Delegate the cooking to different family members and purchase some pre-cooked items to make the day easier. Supporting local producers across Melbourne has never been easier. Order in the ham already glazed, look to caterers and suppliers who have done all the hard work for you. Tell your brother Tim he has to make the salad and Aunt Maree to head down the market for the prawns.

2. Kris Kringle

Organise a Kris Kringle for the adults. There are tonnes of gift exchange websites online that will even draw the names for you. Save on running around the shops last minute and buy one present for one other family member. Make it a competition to see who can buy the funniest gift. This year more than ever, being together is what truly counts.

3. Decorations

Simplify your Christmas decorations. When we asked our Foodie team members for their favourite Christmas memories one of them said stringing popcorn with her mum as a kid. Another said putting out the biscuits for Santa or singing karaoke till 3 in the morning. Keep it simple with Christmas bows and baubles, remember to slow down and appreciate the time you have with family with simple rituals.

4. Don’t Bake It Yourself… We Won’t Tell

Don’t bake it yourself. Why would you? And who has the time. If we’ve learned anything these last few months it’s that food is the best way to say I love you – with local panettone makers, bakers and a great rang of Christmas gingerbreads and puddings. Look for great suppliers who can take the work out of cooking for the family on the day.
