5 Tips To Host Virtual Team Christmas Celebrations

This Christmas, with teams working remotely and a return to the office before the end of the year looking unlikely. Urban Foodies has come up with some ideas to treat the team and host a virtual Christmas from home. So you can still get your tipple on and enjoy a well-deserved giggle at the end of the weirdest year in history….

1 Send Your Team A Picnic Box

With wine and share some photos of each other hanging out in the park. With everyone making a move to outdoor life now there are plenty of options for park-bound Melbournite’s. Urban Foodies have a range of grazing and Christmas themed picnic boxes with wine or without. Get them delivered to the team and host a zoom catch up or post a bunch of pictures of the team enjoying themselves in the local park. Add a prize for the best photo. Have a laugh!

2 Team Cooking Event

Urban Foodies has been around a foodie block or two. Prior to COVID we hosted corporate team building and cooking events in our North Melbourne Warehouse. We worked with over 800 happy teams to bring some healthy competition in the kitchen with our chef-led classes. Hosting teams while they battled for best knife skills or most beautifully presented dish. This year we’ve had a rethink and gone virtual. So teams at home can compete for the best dish or learn alongside our chefs with instructions and ingredients.

3 Try Out Trivia

Everyone loves trivia. Urban Foodies did a live trivia event for our Christmas party last year and it paired perfectly with a few wines and gave us something to do in teams while we tested our knowledge. This year there’s a host of virtual options. We can run one for you and even drop off some charcuterie boxes to enjoy while the team is playing, wine, beers, you name it. Virtual classes have a break-out rooms for teams to discuss their answers before coming back into the main room to see how they fared in each round.

4 Send A Healthy Cooking Kit

And on to idea number four! (We’re full of them). Some of our regular clients have been asking us to put together bespoke cooking kits, with a focus on health and wellbeing for their teams. With recipes included we’ve delivered all ingredients for week night dinners, recipes, cooking tips and a message from the boss as well. These have been really well received and are a great way to make the team feel together even though we’re all stuck on zoom meetings all day. For Christmas we’re offering a range of festive cook at home options tailored for our favourite corporate clients.

5 Enjoy A Luxe Lunch Or Dinner

Lucky last is idea number five. At the beginning of lockdown Urban Foodies pivoted to offer home delivery as well. Our Finish At Home options from our home delivery range take all the work out of a delicious meal, finished at home in a few simple steps, a decadent and luxurious meal on the table in minutes. These are a fabulous way to say thanks to your team for all their hard work this year and a virtual toast together over a meal is a great way to make everyone feel more together, apart, but together.

And if you don’t need help organising your virtual Christmas this year, from all of us at Urban Foodies, thanks for your support during these crazy times. It’s been an eye opener for the hospitality industry and we can’t wait to see you at more events next year!
